One question we get a lot surrounds the impending deadline to get certified on 3rd edition. As of July 1, the PMP exam will be based on the new PMBOK(R) Guide, 4th Edition and many folks are trying to rush in and get their testing done in the next few weeks.
A couple of things to consider:
1st - many of the Prometric sites where you have to take the exam are booked up. I've heard of a few situations where people paid a lot of money for a prep course, only to find out that they couldn't reserve a time to take their test after all. One lady had actually spent over $2800 on course fees (with another provider), bought plane tickets, submitted for vacation time away from work, only to find out a few days ago that she couldn't get in to take the exam after all. Unfortunately, the training company isn't being very helpful in making other arrangements or refunding her money.
