Why did I choose the CAPM instead of PMP? Basically, I need to start somewhere! The entire process is overwhelming and when comparing requirements I decided that for me personally, CAPM was the best choice. I want to get my feet wet and have a really good understanding of this entire process. Eventually, I will move on to the PMP, but for right now CAPM works for me (and really it scares me LOL). Let's see........3 hour vs. 4 hour test, 150 questions vs. 200 questions..........I'm just sayin' (totally kidding, of course).

I have to admit that I'm having a difficult time dedicating "study time". I'm hoping that the research and work I'm doing for PPM will help me (I suspect it will) while I'm not "studying". I am happy to say that starting next week, life should settle a bit and I will have more time to dedicate to studying.........we all know how important studying is AND remember who I work for now (passing the exam is not optional)!!

I realize it has been a while since my last blog post………………..and I apologize as I know you anxiously await my blogs and must be disappointed when they don’t appear :-). Seriously, I have been just as busy as all of you working, studying, and raising a family. I finally started the PMP101 module and was mortified that I failed the first quiz AGHHHH, I wasn’t expecting it and obviously wasn’t prepared and am so embarrassed to admit it especially given that it was only regarding the steps to becoming a PMP LOL. I answered to how I thought the process should work (I’m a know it all, you know), and I was wrong. Guess that was my rude awakening to realizing I need to learn how it works FAST since I plan on helping many of you through the process. I am happy to admit that I passed the next quiz though :-).

As I sat down to write my blog last night, life happened and it didn't get done. I know that I kept so many in suspense wondering if I chose studying or Dancing with the Stars. Well, it's kinda funny as I chose both and it backfired. See, I was an hour ahead of myself so I had an hour to study and then I could watch Dancing with the Stars - YAY me! So, I studied and then the joke was on me when I fell asleep only ten minutes in to the show LOL. There's always next week :-)

So, back to last night and how life changed my evening. I was plucking away at my new job and getting ready to blog when I realized my son was really having a problem and not "faking". He has been complaining of a headache and other symptoms for a few days and stayed home from school yesterday.

Welcome to Day 2 of my CAPM progress!

I am truly hoping that by learning all about PPM, this process will be easier for me. My theory is that as I learn my new job, I will be learning all about the process and everything I could possibly want to know about project management.

I can't wait to attend one of PPM's bootcamps to bring it all together. I have read many reviews on how great the instructor is :-).

I do realize that this will work out and I will settle into learning and studying, but as I sit here with the flashcards in my lap, I think to myself that there is no way I will ever learn all this information.

I do admit though that at the moment I am tortured with making a choice - Dancing With the Stars is coming on soon and I have missed the past couple of weeks and honestly, I can't miss JR another night, but I know I need to study. What is a girl to do?

Check back in with me this week to find out!

I am proud to bring Kim Hoffman on-board part-time as a Student Relationship Manager. Kim has worked for years in the medical field, coordinating multiple projects and managing the childbirth education program for a New England Hospital. Not only is she a great friend, Kim has unparalleled dedication to her customers and to "getting things done the right way".

So when an opportunity came up for Kim to work part-time with us here at PPM, we jumped at the chance. But... there's just one obstacle: all PPM employees must be certified. Follow Kim's blog as she prepares to self-study for the CAPM exam! ~ Belinda
