Lots of JUNK on PMP Prep

I love LinkedIn - it's an excellent source of information and online networking. However, I was reminded once again today that "buyer beware" is applicable to information browsing on the net and on networking sites.

A gentleman posted a discussion to many of the most popular project management gropus on LinkedIn, directing folks to a source of information to prep for the exam. I'm always excited about any information to help prep students. BUT, I quickly identified the site as one to avoid. Key giveaway? The author claims to have "successfully passed the PMP exam, 4th Edition."

That's very interesting given that the exam is not available yet. It is evident by the layout of the site and the prevalence of the "Google" ads, that he is hoping to make money with it. Unfortunately, it's at the cost of tainted knowledge. A closer review of the content did reveal a number of inaccuracies.

So just a warning: If it's free, there's usually a reason. Double-check your sources and for PMP and CAPM, always, always, always use the PMBOK as your primary source of information!
