URGENT! PMI CHANGES EXAM RESULTS NOTIFICATION FOR NEW TEST!

JUST RELEASED BY PMI: JULY 19, 2011 5:29 PM ET

PMI has just announced to Registered Education Providers (REPs) that as of the PMP exam change date of August 31, 2011, students taking their computer-based PMP exam will NOT receive immediate test results.

In addition, the PMI PMP application will change to align with the updated role delineation study (RDS).

CURRENT PROCESS

Exam Results
Upon completion of the computer-based PMP exam (administered at Prometric test centers), the PMP candidate will receive immediate notification of exam results. The results are provided on an official score report that is provided to the candidate before leaving the test center.

The score report provides the overall results (Pass or Fail) along with a proficiency rating in each of the six domains: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, Closing, and Professional and Social Responsibility. The proficiency ratings are: below proficient, moderately proficient and proficient.

PMI PMP Application
PMI requires that candidates track and report their hours of experience leading and directing projects for each task within the RDS. Those tasks correlate to the project domains of initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing.

NEW PROCESS

Exam
As of the PMP exam changes on August 31, 2011, PMP candidates will not immediately receive their examination results upon completion of the computer-based exam.

Instead, candidates will be notified within four to six weeks, via email, of their examination results and PMP status.

Candidates completing the paper-based PMP exam can also expect a delay in receiving their results although a defined timeline for delivery was not confirmed by PMI.

All candidates can expect to receive their results by mid-October.

PMI PMP Application
On 31 August, PMI will update the PMP application to require candidates to track and report their hours for each domain (Process Group) within the RDS.

(This appears to simplify the application as project hours will not need to be split across multiple tasks but rather just aligned to the high-level domains.)

WHY?
According to PMI, the delay is necessary any time an exam changes to validate the new examination structure.

RECOMMENDATION
If you are considering pursuing your PMP, we STRONGLY recommend taking your exam prior to the 8/31/11 change unless you are prepared to wait up to six weeks for your examination results.

Please keep in mind that if you choose the latter, you will need to maintain your level of knowledge and comfort with the material, after the exam, for up to six to eight weeks in the event you do not pass and need to re-test.

Please contact us with any questions!

CAP-M Test Changes?

To clarify the information regarding the PMP changes, do these changes effect the CAP-M certification test as well?

CAPM Test Changes

Hi Laura,
The changes only effect the PMP exam, not the CAPM exam.

Thanks!
