COMPTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CAS-002) is an alternative to the CISSP exam for those wanting to satisfy DOD 8570.1 requirements. CASP certification is included in the approved list of certifications that meet the DoD Directive 8570.1 requirements. It is approved as a baseline certification for the IAT Level III, IAM Level II, and IASAE Level I and II. While the CISSP is broader in scope and knowledge, the CASP exam is more directly focused on technical security vulnerabilities and practical application of skills. A CASP certified technician will demonstrate an understanding of security vulnerabilities, an ability to discern specific types of attacks and provide solutions to mitigate the risks associated with such attacks. Our CASP certification class focuses on a combination of lecture and hands-on labs to facilitate an in-depth understanding of topics covered. Students will use a virtualized environment consisting of 8 Linux servers to examine and gain experience with tools like Wireshark, Helix, L0phtcrack, Snort and numerous other network security tools. Our goal is to not just “prep for a test” but to learn and comprehend exam objectives while providing an interesting and interactive learning environment. The exam focuses on five main topics:
- Enterprise Security: 30% of exam
- Risk Management and Incident Response: 20% of exam
- Research and Analysis: 18% of exam
- Integration of Computing, Communication, and Business Disciplines: 16% of exam
- Technical Integration of Enterprise Components: 16% of exam
Our CASP Boot Camp is designed to provide four extensive days of and study using proven training methods and custom courseware designed by information security training specialists. Our materials take complex topics and make them easy to understand by focusing on comprehension of material, instead of memorization of facts.
